In this guide, I will show you how to trim an activity in the Garmin Connect iOS app. We have all been there when we finish our adventure, then halfway home we remember! “I forgot to stop my recording!” Here is a quick step-by-step tutorial.
In the image below, you can see I forgot to stop my activity after hiking in Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. The red isn’t my superhuman hiking speed, haha, it’s me driving away in my car.

Trim Activity Steps
To start, open up the activity in your Garmin Connect app. Hit the triple dots in the top right-hand corner to bring up another menu on the bottom of the screen.

Once the menu is loaded on the bottom, select the Edit Activity
option.

On this new screen, you can see all the details of your adventure. Scroll down until you see the Trim Activity
option that is pointed out in the image below.

When the new screen loads, I recommend putting your phone horizontally. It will make it easier to find the point in time that we want to trim the activity to.
Put your finger on the graph and scrub it back and forth to find the time that you would like to end your activity. In the screenshot below you can see that I want to trim our activity to the 2:46:20
mark. That is 2 hours, 46 minutes, and 20 seconds.
I was able to identify this time by seeing the brief stop in pace for my activity. This is when I was sitting in the car wrapping things up, getting ready to leave. Also, you can see the rapid increase in pace, where I actually was driving away from the hike.

Update Trim End Time
Once you have gathered the above information, put your phone back in the vertical position. Find the Trim End
menu option, then tap on it.

This will load a bottom menu where we will adjust to the time we discovered in the steps above. Again, we will set this to 2 hours 47 minutes, and 28 seconds.

Once happy with the Trim End
time that you have put in. Tap on the Done
button in the top right of this menu.

You will see the end of the activity has been dulled down in color from the rest of the activity. If this looks correct, hit the Save
button one more time.

Click Save
one final time in the modal that pops up. This warning is letting you know that it will update (recalculate) all the details of your activity after you save.

The Results
Yay! Our activity is now trimmed! You can see that the driving portion of my previous recording is no longer showing. Also, the rest of the details have been updated as well.
