Shepherd Canyon is a 2.07 mile trail with 184 feet of elevation gain and is located in San Diego, CA. This is a nice little trail to take your pup or go on a family walk that gives you the feel of nature while being in the middle of the county.
Parking & Getting There
Parking at the trail is a bit different. If you start on the end that we did, you will see that you actually need to park across the street in the residential area. There is plenty of parking available, just be respectful since you will be parking in front of peoples homes.
Directions to the trail can be found here: Google Maps

The Trail
While walking around on this trail you will be met with a combination of shade and non shady areas. It will be important to pack sun screen and plenty of water for your adventure. You are able to bring your pup with you on the trail and it is wide enough in most places that makes passing other hikers very easy on the trail.
There is trail signage on both ends of the trail. I did not see much in between, but with that said, the trail was very easy to follow. I did not see any bathrooms on the route.
You will get to see some tall trees and bushes along the way. Seeing that there is not much elevation gain, it makes this a great beginner hike.
Lookback
Overall Shepherd Canyon Trail is a nice trail to check out if you live in the area. I would not travel very far for it, but definitely nice to enjoy if close by. Sometimes we just need a quick walk or hike in nature without traveling far to do so. This is a great place to do that!
